【Jul 2022】Update on Travel Restrictions
Hello World! Today we would like to share updates on travel restrictions announced by the Government of Canada on June 14, 2022. Please also check our previous article on travel restrictions from here.
The following rules became effective as of June 20, 2022.
Suspension of Vaccination Requirements
The Government of Canada announced that effective June 20, 2022, vaccinations are no longer required to board a plane or train in Canada. This allows travellers to take flights departing from Canadian airports (including international flights) and travel by VIA Rail and Rocky Mountaineer trains without being required to show proof of vaccinations.
This change does not affect border measures that require all travellers entering Canada to continue following entry requirements, including vaccination. Also, wearing a mask is required on flights and trains.
Cruise Ships:
As passengers are in close contact with each other for extended periods, vaccinations are still required for passengers and crew on cruise ships
No Change for Travellers from Outside Canada
Canadian citizens and permanent residents entering Canada who are not fully vaccinated continue to be required to provide a valid pre-entry test result, remain subject to Day 1 and Day 8 molecular testing, and quarantine for 14 days.
In addition, all travellers entering Canada must submit mandatory information in ArriveCAN within 72 hours before arrival in Canada. Travellers who arrive without completing their ArriveCAN submission may be subject to Day 1, Day 8 molecular testing, quarantine for 14 days, and fines or other enforcement actions, regardless of their vaccination status.
Foreign Nationals Entering Canada:
*Foreign nationals who are not fully vaccinated continue to be prohibited entry into Canada although they can depart Canada by plane or train.
* Foreign nationals = Travellers who are not Canadians or permanent residents.

As mentioned above, the vaccination requirement for domestic and outbound travel has been suspended. We expect more people will be travelling around Canada now.
