Express Entry (CEC,FSW,FST) ITA to Resume
Hello World! Today we would like to provide you with some good news regarding Express Entry and an update on Proof of Funds requirements for its applicants.
Express Entry invitations under the federal high-skilled stream will resume in July 2022. For those who are considering applying for permanent residence through Express Entry, this must be the news you have been waiting for!
Express Entry – ITA to Resume
On April 22, 2022, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced Express Entry invitations to apply (ITA) for Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Federal Skilled Trades (FST) applicants will resume in early July.
It was also announced that processing times for new Express Entry applicants would return to the 6-months service standard. (Current processing time as of May 2022: 7 to 20+ months.)
Travel restrictions throughout most of 2020 and 2021 delayed the processing of overseas applications and resulted in a huge immigration application backlog (see related article). To manage this, IRCC temporarily paused ITA under the federal high-skilled stream, including the FSW, CEC and FST. This time finally, a specific timeline for resuming has been announced.

2022 Express Entry – Proof of Funds Increased
Proof of Funds requirement for Express Entry has been updated and the new amount is applied as below. If you are currently registered and need to update your fund amount, please do so by June 8, 2022.
If you declare a lower amount than the updated amount, your Express Entry registration will be cancelled. Please make sure to check the new amount and update your profile as needed.
What is Proof of Funds?
Proof of Funds is how you show that you have enough money to settle in Canada. If you are invited to apply, you must submit some documents to prove the funds you declared.
Applicants to the following programs require Proof of Funds.
- Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
- Federal Skilled Trades (FST)
Following applicants are not required to show Proof of Funds.
- Applicants under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
- Applicants under the FSW or FST who are authorized to work in Canada and have a valid job offer
