LMIA – Recognized Employer Pilot

Hello World! Today we would like to provide information about the Recognized Employer Pilot (REP), beginning in September 2023.

If you are applying for a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) based Work Permit, please be sure to read it!

What is LMIA?

What is the Recognized Employer Pilot (REP)?

The REP is a new program that operates under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) aims to simplify the LMIA application process for eligible employers who hire TFWs.

REP Eligible Employers

Employers must have a minimum of 3 positive LMIAs over the past 5 years for the same occupation on the REP occupations list.

Employers certified under the REP will have access to LMIAs valid for up to 36 months, and the LMIA application process will be simplified.

REP Schedule & Designated Occupations

The REP has 2 phases:

  • Occupations in Phase 1 – applications open September 2023
  • Occupations in Phase 2 – applications open January 2024

Applications will be closed in September 2024.

Please visit the government website to check the occupations listed for Phase 1 & Phase 2.

The REP can be applied at the same time as the LMIA application. If the REP is not approved, the LMIA will be reviewed separately and only the LMIA may be approved.
