On March 17, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced a special measure to allow the extension of the PGWP for up to 18 months.

Changes Effective April 6, 2023

Starting April 6, 2023, the following eligible PGWP holders may apply for an extension.

Eligibility:

  • Foreign nationals with an expiring PGWP
  • Foreign nationals whose PGWP has already expired in 2023

Those with expired Work Permits can restore the status, even if it’s beyond the 90-day restoration period. You will receive an interim work authorization while awaiting the processing of a new Work Permit application.

Eligible applicants will receive a message regarding the procedure starting April 6, 2023.
