Update on Travel Restrictions
Hello World! Today we would like to share the latest information on travel restrictions.
Update 1:U.S. Reopening Border
On October 15, 2021, the government of the United States announced a plan to reopen the border to fully vaccinated travellers which have been closed for non-essential travel since March 2020.
Fully vaccinated travellers will be allowed to enter the United States by air, land or passenger ferry starting November 8, 2021.
According to the CBC news report, air travellers will need to show proof of vaccination on their arrival. They will also need to show a pre-departure negative COVID-19 test taken within three days of their flight.
Travellers crossing at a land border will be required to show their vaccination status upon request by border agents but proof of a negative COVID-19 test will not be required.

Update 2:Vaccination will be Required for Travel
On October 6, 2021, the Government of Canada announced that all travellers departing from Canadian airports and traveling by VIA Rail and Rocky Mountaineer trains will need to be fully vaccinated.
Effective October 30 2021, travellers will need to be fully vaccinated to board.
The vaccination requirement will apply to all travellers 12 years of age and older who are:
- Air passengers flying on domestic, transborder or international flights departing from airports in Canada
- Rail passengers on VIA Rail and Rocky Mountaineer trains
- Marine passengers on non-essential passenger vessels, such as cruise ships, on voyages of 24 hours or more
A short transition period will allow travellers who are in the process of getting vaccinated to board if they can show a valid COVID-19 molecular test within 72 hours of travel.
By November 30, all travellers must be fully vaccinated. There will only be very limited exceptions such as emergency travel, and those medically unable to be vaccinated.
