Significant Updates to the BC PNP 2025

Hello World! Today, we would like to share the latest information regarding the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP), one of Canada’s most sought-after immigration pathways – especially for those eyeing vibrant cities like Vancouver.

On April 14, 2025, the Province of British Columbia announced significant changes to the policies and rules of the BC PNP in response to a 50% reduction in its 2025 nomination allocation.

Big Cut to BC PNP New Application Quota

The allocation for the BC PNP in 2025 has been reduced by 50% from the previous year, bringing the total down to 4,000. Of these, 2,900 spots have been allocated to applications already received. As a result, only 1,100 spots remain available for new applications throughout 2025.

Within this limited number of spots available, the BC PNP will focus on accepting new applications from the following specific areas:

• Health Authority
• Entrepreneurs
• Skilled workers who create a high economic impact in the province

Key Changes to the Program

• International Post-Graduate (IPG) program: Applications to the International Post-Graduate (IPG) program submitted between September 1, 2024, and January 7, 2025, will be placed on hold until more allocations become available.
• No General or Priority Draws in 2025: The BC PNP does not expect to conduct general or priority occupation drawing in 2025. Instead, the program will issue a limited number of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to Skills Immigration registrants who are likely to create significant economic impact. Currently, over 10,000 candidates are registered with the BC PNP, and only around 100 ITAs are expected to be issued in 2025. The first ITAs is scheduled for early May 2025.
• Health Authority Stream: This stream is limited to occupations directly contributing to the provision of healthcare services, such as doctors, nurses, and related professionals. The list of eligible occupations can be found here.
• Childcare Occupations: For childcare-related occupations, only Early Childhood Educator positions are targeted, and Early Childhood Educator Assistants are not included.
• New International Student Stream Paused: The launch of the 3 new streams for international students (Bachelor’s Stream, Master’s Stream, and Doctorate Stream) will be temporarily paused until more allocations become available.
