Immigration Pilots for Rural and Francophone
Hello World! Today, we would like to share information on the new immigration pilot programs introduced by the government of Canada in January 2025 for rural and Francophone communities.
Two New Pilot Programs
While Canada’s population continues to concentrate in urban areas, rural and Francophone communities are facing challenges such as labour shortages and population decline. To address these issues, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has introduced two new immigration pilot programs.
Rural Community Immigration Pilot (RCIP)
This program is designed to address labour shortages in rural areas and support local economic growth. By attracting skilled workers to these regions, it aims to encourage long-term settlement through employment opportunities.
Francophone Community Immigration Pilot (FCIP)
This program focuses on increasing the number of French-speaking newcomers settling in Francophone communities outside of Quebec, supporting their economic and population growth.
Program Structure and Process
Each pilot program involves specific communities designated by the government of Canada. Selected communities work closely with IRCC to identify local labour needs, designate eligible employers, and recommend suitable candidates to IRCC for permanent residence.
