Hello World! Today we would like to talk about the National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2021, which will be implemented on November 16, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new NOC adds a new TEER classification for each occupation and the existing categories based on skill type and skill level will be changed.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please be sure to read the below if you plan to apply to a program that uses NOCs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the NOC and the New TEER System?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

What is the NOC?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NOC is a code that describes occupations in the Canadian labour market. NOC is required when applying for a Work Permit or Permanent Residence in Canada.<\/span> Applicants select the NOC that best fits their job description, and the application will be assessed based on the job description and conditions described in the NOC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The current NOC consists of a 4-digit code for each occupation, with 0, A, B, C, or D indicating its skill type and skill level. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Generally, NOC skill level B or higher is considered as a Skilled Worker. For example, if you apply for Permanent Residence through Express Entry, your occupation must be NOC skill level B or higher.\uff08Read the article on Express Entry here<\/strong><\/a>.\uff09<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the new TEER system?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new classification system that will be introduced on November 16, 2022. The current NOC skill type and skill level structure (NOC 0, A, B, C and D) will be replaced with a 6-level TEER Categories 0-5, referring to the degree of Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities needed for an occupation.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most occupations will stay in the TEER category that is equal to the skill type and skill level in the table below. However, please note that Skill level B jobs may become TEER 2 or TEER 3 jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, 4-digit occupation codes will become 5-digit codes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
