About Intra-Company Transferee (ICT) Work Permits<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When a Canadian employer hires a foreign worker, they are typically required to undergo a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). However, ICT Work Permits are exempt<\/strong> from the LMIA process. Instead, the employer must submit an “Offer of Employment” via the Employer Portal in advance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    [April 2026 Update] Work Permit Extension Guidelines<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    On April 27, 2026, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) clarified the guidelines regarding continued authorization to work while a Work Permit extension is pending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Under these updates, applicants who meet specific criteria are authorized to continue working for 365 days<\/strong> from the date of application and will receive a letter to that effect. The eligibility criteria are as follows\u2193<\/p>\n\n\n\n
