Updates on the TR to PR program!

Hello World! A couple of weeks ago, I came to Ontario due to some personal reasons.

It’s been a while since I visited the East Coast. I am enjoying the different vibe and culture here.

Today we would like to talk about the updates on the new pathway to Canada (TR to PR program). You can check our previous article from here.

Popular program – TR to PR

As of April 14, 2021, the New policy will allow up to 90,000 workers and international graduates to obtain permanent residency.

Effective May 6, 2021, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will begin accepting applications under the following 3 streams:

  • 20,000 applications for temporary workers in health care (As of now, more than 1300 people applied)
  • 30,000 applications for temporary workers in other selected essential occupations (As of now, more than 8500 people applied)
  • 40,000 applications for international students who graduated from a Canadian institution (Full in 2 days!)

Conditions to apply

The above stream will open on May 6, 2021 and remain open until November 5, 2021, or until they have reached their limit. Up to 90,000 new permanent residents will be admitted under these streams.

The following is the summary of conditions for temporary workers.

  • Have accumulated at least one (1) year of full-time work experience, or the equivalent in part-time experience (1,560 hours), in Canada, in an eligible occupation listed in Annex A or Annex B in the past three years.
  • Be employed in Canada in any occupation at the time that the application for permanent residence is received;
  • Have attained a level of proficiency of at least benchmark 4 
  • Reside in Canada with valid temporary resident status 
  • Intend to reside in a province or territory other than Quebec
  • Have submitted their application for permanent residence under this public policy using electronic means (apply online). 
  • The foreign national is not inadmissible under the Act and Regulations.
